CAD2USD.ca is a personal side-project that tracks the live USD↔CAD rate daily using public data (Bank of Canada rates).
Our goal is simple: give Canadians a fast, free converter plus clear information about the hidden fees banks and apps charge when you move money across the border.
The USD/CAD exchange rate affects millions of Canadians — from snowbirds converting savings, to freelancers getting paid in USD, to businesses importing goods from the US. Yet most people have no idea how much their bank is charging them above the real mid-market rate.
We built this tool to make that information transparent and accessible.
CAD2USD.ca is managed by one person who loves clean data and hates surprise FX spreads. We are not a financial institution, bank, or licensed financial advisor.
Exchange rates are sourced from the Bank of Canada API, which aggregates Bank of Canada reference rates. The Bank of Canada publishes rates on every business day at approximately 16:30 ET (Eastern Time, Ottawa).
